Dr. NN Devan Namboodiri had studied at Ayurveda college, Coimbatore. After completing academic studies(B.A.M.S), he started private practice and also acquired knowledge in various subjects like Vyakarana, Nyaaya, Meemmamsa, Advaitha Vedantha, Yoga, Ayurveda, Hasthyayurveda etc under Gurukula system from well-known scholars like Late Poomully Neelakandhan Namboodiripad, Late Vaidyamadhom Valiya Narayanan Namboodiri, Late Vaisravanath Vasudevan Namboodiri etc.
He is the founder and chief physician of Asokalayam Ayurveda Chikithsa Kendram, Thiruvegappura & chief consulting physician of Poomully mana Ayurveda centre, Peringode. He is also a consulting physician of Nandavanam Hospital-Ottappalam. Now Dr. NN Devan Namboodiri is providing his services to Punnathur Gaja Samrakshana kendram of Guruvayur Devaswom as a Jeeva dhanam expert committee member. He is the principal of "Hasthyadyayurveda pathana gaveshana kendram (GTNGET), Guruvayur.

After the completion of BAMS (Ayurvedacharya) at Ayurveda college, Coimbatore he serviced as a tutor of Ayurveda at the same college. After completing academic studies he was apprenticed Ayurveda under Ashtavaidyan Sri Vaidyamadhom Valiya Narayanan Namboodiri. He serviced as an RMO at K. A. Samajam Ayurveda Hospital Shoranur and as a visiting doctor of its branches in Chennai and Trivandrum. He was a member of panel of doctors in K. A. Samjam in which all the Ashtavaidyas and some famous allopathy doctors were also participating. He is the chief consulting physician of Poomully mana Ayurveda Hospital which was started in the honorable memory of his Guru Sri Poomully Neelakandan Namboidiripad, since 1998.
In 2002 Dr. NN Devan Namboodiri founded Asokalayam with both O.P and I.P facilities. Dr. NN Devan Namboodiri is also a consulting physician in Nandavanam Ayurveda Hospital, Ottappalam. In addition to this he started his service as member of Jeevadhanam Expert Committee of Punnathur Kotta Elephant Sanctuary, Guruvayoor. Since 2017 he is the Principal of Hasthyadi Ayurveda Pathana Gaveshana Kendra (GTNGET) under which BAMS holders are awarded by PG diploma in Hasthyadyayurveda. At present he is also conducting classes of Ayurveda and Yoga in traditional method.
